Since 1989.

One family, one corner of Shore Blvd, thirty-seven years of come-as-you-are.

An O in front of her name.

Maddy Stoehs Guenther wanted to open an Irish pub. She found her spot on a family-owned lot on Shore Blvd S in Gulfport, a corner that had been a snack bar and a gas station, right across the street from the pier. When it came time to name the place she didn't overthink it. She simply put an “O” in front of her name, and in 1989 O'Maddy's opened its doors.

Maddy still owns it, and her husband Joe Guenther has long run the place alongside her. What they built is a friendly neighborhood hangout that happens to sit on Boca Ciega Bay: live music every day, big plates at bar prices, and a crowd that mixes regulars who come in every week with people who just walked off the pier.

In 2022 the city approved a second-floor outdoor deck for about 70 more seats. Today the covered upstairs looks straight out over the bay, and on the weekends it's where the second band plays.

What people say

We enjoyed dinner twice at this restaurant because we loved the service, food, atmosphere and view towards the Pier. Also possible to people and car watch as well as follow the sun go down with a lovely glass of Oyster Bay…
